A few weeks ago Kodiak Nutrition decided to take the Stack3d certified challenge with our triple source protein powder 3Whey. For those not familiar with the Stack3d certified challenge it was developed to determine which protein powders are not amino spiked and to verify that the amount of protein listed on the label is exactly what you are getting. The goal of the program is to provide consumers with valid, unbiased information on protein powders that you can 100% trust.

Stack3d’s independent testing proved that 3Whey contained absolutely no added amino acids and was certified as a spike free protein. Testing also verified 3Whey achieved the 26-gram protein claim made on the label. Because of this, Kodiak 3 Whey was awarded Stack3d certification, one of only five protein powders to achieve this thus far.

As they say “the proof is in the pudding.” Kodiak 3Whey delivers EXACTLY what the label says and you get EXACTLY what you are paying for.  While other brands may claim their protein powder is spike free they fail to put their money where their mouth is. Talk is cheap and when you know you’re producing only the cleanest, purest protein you should have nothing to hide.  At Kodiak full transparency is the name of the game and we do it better than anyone.  This transparency is reflected in 3Whey… a protein powder you can clearly trust and Stack3d certified to be spike free and true to its label claims.

What’s the Deal with Amino Spiking?

Simply put amino spiking is when the manufacturer replaces the more expensive whey in a protein powder with cheap amino acids. The current scientific method for determining a product’s protein amount measures the total nitrogen content in food or dietary supplements. This is the standard, accepted method, due to protein being the only macronutrient that provides nitrogen, which comes from its chains of amino acids. By default, the total nitrogen content is attributed to whole protein.

Companies, intentionally or otherwise, have taken advantage of the nature of this scientific method by adding non-protein nitrogen-containing ingredients to their protein powders. Examples are individual amino acids or creatine. Substitutes like these generate test results showing a higher nitrogen content, and therefore a higher “protein” content.  By doing this, companies are able to substantially cut manufacturing costs. Non-protein nitrogen-containing ingredients can be much cheaper than proteins like whey, casein, or egg. This practice has lead consumers to believe they are getting 20 grams of protein, when they may just be receiving 10 grams of protein with the rest being attributed to nitrogen-containing compounds such as amino acids, betaine, or creatine.

Kodiak 3Whey does not include non-protein, nitrogen-containing ingredients. We took the responsibility to ensure the protein content is based solely on the protein quantity.  With each scoop of 3Whey you can rest assured that you are getting 26 grams of protein from whole whey sources without the added extra fluff. 3Whey has been certified by STACK3D to be AMINO SPIKE FREE and to meet all label claims.

About Kodiak 3Whey – A Protein You Can Definitely Trust

3Whey contains a whopping 26 grams of total protein from three different forms of whey that digest at different rates to ignite muscle protein synthesis and keep it going for hours. If that wasn’t enough you know exactly how much of each protein you are getting with each serving. Very few of our competitors give you that level of transparency. Take a look at 3Whey’s label and you will find:

  • 3 grams Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides– This form of whey is predigested, which results in faster absorption and release of amino acids into the blood stream. This rapidly sparks muscle protein synthesis when consumed after exercise. Absorption begins about 15 minutes after ingestion and is studied to continue for over an hour.
  • 12.5 grams Whey Isolate– WPI is the isolated protein fraction from whey protein concentrate that is 90% pure protein—making it the purest protein source currently available. Absorption begins about 1 hour after ingestion and is studied to continue for up to 1.5 hours.
  • 10.5 grams Whey Concentrate– Concentrate contains 80 percent pure protein in addition to a small amount of fat, minerals, and lactose. Because it’s more complete, whey protein concentrate usually has more bioactive components that add to concentrate’s benefit. Absorption begins about 1 hour after ingestion and is studied to continue for up to 3 hours.
  • Digestive Enzyme Complex – Consisting of protease and lactase which may help those individuals who experience nausea, cramping, or bloating when consuming whey proteins.

Without a doubt Kodiak 3Whey is the GOLD STANDARD when it comes to protein powders. Utilizing 3 forms of the most bioavailable wheys in the world, Kodiak 3Whey will increase lean muscle mass and help damaged muscles recover faster.
